The Heartbeat of a Community

Our programming is curated around the needs of the community, including promoting literacy, diversity, and the building blocks of growth.

We asked families what the library means to them!

The library is of the greatest equalizer within the community. It provides knowledge, resources, internet, community experiences and learning opportunities across all ages and at no direct cost to the people that use it.

Tracy

Age: 40

It is the ideal third space. A place of relaxation, connection, and growth where no expectations are put upon guests (beyond common courtesy). It is a place to enjoy without the obligation of making a purchase or producing, which is exceedingly rare. To me it means simply existing in a space without demands being placed upon me and that is my ideal form of freedom.

Mark

Age: 33

It means being able to armchair travel when you want to go but can’t. It means solving a mystery when you feel like being a sleuth. It means enjoying the lives of families when reading series books like “Virgin River - Dare Valley Series” etc. it means digging up new recipes in your many recipe books. It means digging in history books, exploring the history of just about anything and anywhere….I love civil war history! It means having a staff always ready to help find books and just giving a smile when I need one. It means, as a senior citizen, having a means to have my taxes done free by very professional, kind, tax preparers. There is so much more, this could become a book! 😊

Shirley

Age: 75

It's somewhere that brings people in the area together, it hosts events and helps others socialize and connect and with such a small town I'm glad we have it to bring everyone together! :3

Viviana

Age: 15

It’s a critical part of learning. The library provides incredible value to our community, and in the era of the digital age, it’s wonderful to go and read hands-on.
